Bake Off rises in Poland, Oz

Local versions of a BBC Worldwide cookery competition format have been commissioned for Australia’s Nine Network and TLC in Poland.

Love Productions format The Great Bake Off has been ordered by Nine for primetime and by Discovery Networks CEEMEA for female-skewing TLC.

The Great Australian Bake Off will see chefs from across the country attempt to impress judges with their creativity and baking expertise.

Endemol, meanwhile, is producing six episodes and a ‘best-of’ compilation of The Great Polish Bake Off to air in October. The series will be hosted by Marta Grycan and Piotr Gasowski and will take competitors around Poland to try their hand at regional pastry dishes.

In addition, TLC has also acquired the first two seasons of The Great British Bake Off, which originally premiered on BBC2 in the UK in August 2010. Spin-off Junior Bake Off and Celebrity Bake Off have also aired.

The format has previously been sold to TV4 in Sweden, Danish pubcaster DR, TV3 in Ireland and Belgium’s VTM.
