Avalon sells comedy format into Spain

UK distributor Avalon International has sold the format to Baddiel & Skinner Unplanned to TV3 in Catalonia, Spain – its fifth sale of the comedy format so far.

The show is produced by Avalon Television in the UK and is currently in its third series on ITV1.

The UK series features comedians Frank Skinner and David Baddiel who appear live and unscripted on a sofa, taking random questions from the members of the studio audience.

In Catalonia, the show will be produced by El Terrat de Producciones and will air on the public service broadcaster, TV3. It will be presented by the local equivalent of Skinner and Baddiel: Jose Corbacho and Santi Millan.

The format, which has been nominated at the Bafta TV Awards and the Golden Rose of Montreux, has already been sold into France, Italy, Germany and Chile. The UK series was also sold into Australia.

Skinner & Baddiel Unplanned originated at the Edinburgh Festival in 1998, and transferred to a sell-out West End run. The show is one of several that Avalon International is taking to this month's Mip-TV.

They include Sky1 sitcom Time Gentleman Please, The Sketch Show, The Frank Skinner Show and The All New Harry Hill Show, all produced for ITV1 in the UK.

Avalon will also be shopping a mini-series starring Perrier Award winning comic and spoof horror writer Garth Marenghi.
