The 20-year-old company is expanding its Melbourne-based team with 20 new roles and a recruitment drive for UK-based unscripted production talent is underway.

WTFN will subsidise travel and accommodation costs and help with obtaining the necessary work permits.

The roles that need to be filled include experienced editors, producers, showrunners, post-producers, field producers and production managers.

Wes Crook, WTFN’s chief operating officer, will travel to the UK next week to meet candidates and a follow-up trip is planned for July.

Back in Australia, the company will also be taking on 20 interns during 2023 in partnership with Melbourne’s Swinburne University of Technology. The long-standing relationship has seen WTFN take on an average of 10 interns each year, with many moving into full-time roles within the company.

WTFN CEO Daryl Talbot said: “At a time when there is so much change in the media landscape, we are pleased to be a strong independent company that during the past 20 years has been nimble and clever enough to adapt and thrive.”

In related news, Australia’s Seven Network has commissioned three as-yet-unnamed unscripted series from WTFN, including a crime series and a vet show to be coproduced with an international broadcaster.
