Public broadcaster SBS is to become the new Australian broadcast home for UK comedy variety show Adam Hills: The Last Leg.

The long-running series hosted by Australian comedian Adam Hills and produced by Open Mic Productions has been broadcast in Australia on the ABC since its launch in 2012. The series was originally commissioned by the UK’s Chanel 4.

SBS has secured the local broadcast rights for the new 33rd season, to be screened on SBS On Demand and SBS Viceland from late October.

Comedy trio, Hills, Josh Widdicombe and Alex Brooker continue as hosts and panellists dissecting the week’s news with special guests from the realms of entertainment and politics.

Earlier in the year Open Mike Productions, which also produces, Live at the Apollo, Alan Carr Chatty Man and Friday Night with Jonathan Ross, was looking for more streaming partners due to a fall in production turnover caused by the “reduced number of entertainment commissions across the industry”.
