LA SCREENINGS: Australian pubcaster SBS, UK platform Walter Presents and Antena TV Group’s Romanian SVoD service AntenaPlay have acquired Italian cop series Flowers Over the Inferno, distributed by Onza Distribution.

Based on the four-book saga by Ilaria Tuti and produced by Publispei (Medico di Familia), the six-episode series premiered recently on Italian public broadcaster Rai 1, winning its slot with a 25.49% share and averaging 24.96% throughout its broadcast, the Spanish distributor said.

Flowers Over the Inferno follows a female officer as she searches for a serial killer while coping with her Alzheimer’s diagnosis. The second season, based on the second book in the saga titled The Black Virgin, is in post-production and will premiere in Italy in the second half of 2024.

“We believe the announcement of the second season is helping to add more interest to the series throughout the world,” said Béatrice Nouh, sales director at Onza Distribution, who announced the deals at the LA Screenings Independents yesterday.
