Aussie streamer Stan, Prime Video and Germany’s ZDF team for The Assassin

Australian streamer Stan in association with Amazon’s Prime Video have commissioned new original series The Assassin from All3Media-owned Two Brothers Pictures.

The six part drama series has commenced filming in Greece and was created and written by Harry and Jack Williams (The Tourist, The Missing) with Krissie Ducker (Killing Eve) and  Hamish Wright who all also serve as executive producers.

The international cast is led by Keeley Hawes (Bodyguard, Scoop) and Freddie Highmore (The Good Doctor, Bates Motel).

The series is set on a remote Greek island where Hawes plays a retired assassin who has a reunion with her estranged son which unleashes family secrets and global conspiracies.

Stan chief content officer Cailah Scobie said: “After the enormous success of The Tourist, Stan is delighted to welcome back the genre brilliance of Harry and Jack Williams with The Assassin. With an incredible ensemble cast led by Keely Hawes and Freddie Highmore, we can’t wait to bring this nail-biting family thriller to Australian audiences.”

The global coproduction is also produced in association with Germany’s ZDF.

Two Brothers Pictures’ Sarah Hammond (The Tourist) and Daisy Mount serve as executive producers with Hawes and  Highmore also on board as executive producers. One Day’s Nige Watson is producer with Lisa Mulcahy (The Tourist) and Australian director Daniel Nettheim sharing directing duties.
