The animated series, originally announced in mid-2022, is a collaboration between Sony Pictures Animation and Netflix has been in development in conjunction with Ghost Corps.

Flying Bark confirmed its involvement when it called out for a number of experienced artists and animators to work on the project but has not provided details, other than to confirm production will take place at the Flying Bark studios in both Sydney and Madrid.

More than 20 positions are currently being recruited for both locations and it is understood that over 300 Flying Bark crew will be working on the project.

The global production win comes after a period of international investment for Flying Bark, which has been increasing its global headcount since opening its European production facility in Spain last year.

The expansion into Spain followed the opening of offices and a studio in Los Angeles in 2020, supporting the studio’s original headquarters in Sydney.

At the time of the Madrid studio opening in June, Flying Bark CEO Barbara Stephen told C21 that Spain had offered “great incentives” to expand its presence there and also offered rich talent opportunities.

“This is a terrific opportunity to work with Spanish creators and storytellers. We will be hiring the best talent in Spain and bringing members of the Australian team to Europe to create a global company culture,” Stephen said.

As an established producer of premium CGI and traditional 2D animated series and feature films, Flying Bark has expanded from independent production to servicing international studios and platforms including Disney, Marvel, Netflix and Paramount.
