Aussie ‘Fame’ school poised to go global with Prime doc as Dance Life debuts

Amazon will premiere Dance Life on January 19

Amazon will premiere its latest original Australian documentary series, Dance Life, globally across all 240 Prime Video territories on January 19.

The five-part observational series, follows a group of dance students in their quest for success in the final year at elite Australian dance academy, the Brent Street studio, an establishment long considered Australia’s ‘Fame’ school.

The series was co-produced by Amazon Studios in collaboration with EQ Media, Biscuit Tin Productions and Creative Bubble Productions.

The series was created by Creative Bubble producer Jade Dearie-Barnes and Biscuit Tin Productions’ Luke Cornish, who also writes and directs. Executive producers include Shahn Devendran, Dearie-Barnes, Cornish, David Alrich, and Brendan Dahill.

Creator Dearie-Barnes, is a former dance teacher and TV choreographer for Nickelodeon, Channel 10, Channel 9, Disney and ABC. She was a producer and key creative for Ready Set Dance, a Nickelodeon series that now airs in 120 countries and is dubbed in over 25 languages. It is also licensed to 250 dance studios throughout Australia and New Zealand.

Prime Video has commissioned 28 Australian Original series in Australia since 2019, including recent commissions the Narrow Road to the Deep North.

Biscuit Tin Productions has previously been commissioned by Prime Video for Unheard, a six-part documentary series for Prime Video.
