Atomic Cartoons picks president

Atomic Cartoons in Canada, part of the Thunderbird production group, has promoted its head of production to president.

Jennifer Twiner-McCarron will head up Atomic Cartoons having joined the Rocket Monkeys producer in 2011 from fellow Vancouver-based animation firm Rainmaker Entertainment.

Since then she has supervised all in-house production and under her leadership the team has grown from 30 to more than 200 animation artists.

She has led production on titles including Beat Bugs, the forthcoming Netflix original series for kids featuring songs by The Beatles.

Atomic Cartoons was founded in 1999 and has provided service work for clients such as Nelvana, Marvel Animation, Entertainment One, Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network, as well as developing original productions.

It was acquired by Thunderbird last year to accelerate its growth in the kids’ and family space.

The president position was previously held by company co-founder Trevor Bentley, who remains a director.
