Atari, Sternberg link up for Pong show

Gaming pioneer Atari has linked up with unscripted producer Scott Sternberg for its first venture into television, a show based on its iconic game Pong.

Million Dollar Pong will be produced by Sternberg alongside Jeff Mirkin for Atari. No network is attached yet.

Sternbeg’s TV credits include Hollywood Squares Live, Fix It & Finish It, Scream Queens and many other reality series.

Popular 2D table tennis game Pong was launched by Atari in 1972 and was one of the earliest arcade video games.

In October last year, the firm announced it was preparing a push into TV with formats and apps for networks.

Other Atari games from the past include Pac-Man, Asteroids and Space Invaders.
