Asia-Pacific seeks Classic shows

Transatlantic children’s distributor Classic Media has sold 1,200 hours of programmes such as Postman Pat and Casper the Friendly Ghost in Asia-Pacific.

Among the deals, Korean free-to-air EBS has picked up Postman Pat (left). Web portals Yahoo 7 in Australia and Qiyi in China have also bought the show. The latter pair has also acquired He-Man and the Masters of the Universe.

New Zealand’s TVNZ is among a number of firms to acquire Guess With Jess, while Thai group TIGA has acquired free-TV and home entertainment rights to preschool brand Finlay the Fire Engine.

India’s Sun TV and Thailand’s True Visions have acquired George of the Jungle. TIGA, Malaysian broadcaster Natseven TV and NTV7 are among regional networks to have acquired programming from the Casper franchise.
