Arte Distribution shops Jeffrey Dahmer doc

NEWS BRIEF: Paris-based Arte Distribution has acquired the documentary My Friend Dahmer: The Milwaukee Cannibal (1×52′), which looks at US serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer through the eyes of his high school friend and graphic novelist Derf Backderf.

Backderf wrote the graphic novel My Friend Dahmer which explored his relationship with the killer and was adapted into a film of the same name in 2017. Directed by Agnès Pizzini and Olivier Mirguet, the doc is produced by Paris prodco Tournez S’il Vous Plaît. Joséphine Létang, head of sales at Arte Distribution, said: “Derf Backderf’s story is not just about Jeffrey Dahmer, but also about the process of artistic creation and the moral dilemmas that come with it.”
