Arte and Movistar join buyers of BBC, PBS Masterpiece period drama miniseries Miss Austen

Four-part book adaptation Miss Austen stars Keeley Hawes

Cultural broadcaster Arte in France and Germany and Movistar in Spain are among the international broadcasters to have acquired BBC period drama Miss Austen from Federation Studios.

Presold to PBS Masterpiece in the US, the series has also been picked up by Nova in Greece, Viasat for CIS territories, YLE in Finland, SVT in Sweden, RTP in Portugal, RTS in Switzerland, MTVA in Hungary and RTV in Slovenia.

The 4×60’ period drama miniseries for BBC and PBS Masterpiece is produced by Bonnie Productions (Stella Merz, Christine Langan) and Federation Stories (Polly Williams).

The cast includes Keeley Hawes (Bodyguard, Orphan Black), Rose Leslie (Game of Thrones, Downton Abbey), Patsy Ferran (Living, Hot Milk) and Jessica Hynes (Life After Life, Years and Years).

Miss Austen is based on the best-selling book by Gill Hornby and directed by Aisling Walsh (BAFTA TV winner for Room at the Top and written by Andrea Gibb (Sanditon, Mayflies, Elizabeth is Missing…).

Federation Studios holds worldwide rights.
