Armoza joins the crowd

Israel’s Armoza Formats is turning to the public to come up with an idea for its next format and is accepting submissions online.

Armoza will use the views of 1,000 selected candidates to develop a single idea into a full format as part of its ‘TV by the People’ inititiative and says it will “bring a new approach and creativity to the television industry.”

The project is led by Daniel Ravner, head of Armoza’s digital division, and the format will be revealed in July. The person whose idea is chosen will own 15% of the resulting format and related revenues.

“For the most part, a TV company seeking to create a format will have three to six people using the same creative process,” said Ravner.

“We are looking to disrupt the process by having 1,000 people come up with a show. To assist in the designing and running of the process we have on board Lior Zoref, an international expert on the subject of crowd sourcing.”

Armoza is the prodco behind formats such as Still Standing, The Common Denominator and The Bubble, amongst others.
