Argentina’s El Trece first Lat Am network to adapt SPT’s Chain Reaction format

The Spanish version of gameshow Chain Reaction

El Trece in Argentina has become the first Latin American network to adapt Sony Pictures Television’s format Chain Reaction.

The format has already been adapted in countries such as Indonesia, Italy, the US, Serbia and Türkiye, while the only other Spanish-speaking country to do so is Spain.

Originally released in the US in 1980 on NBC, Chain Reaction features a race against time in which two teams of three compete in successive trials to solve word chains, which allows them to accumulate money.

The Argentinian version resembles the Spanish show, with games divided into six rounds and the winning team from the previous episode returning to face a new challenger.

The programme premiered yesterday, hosted by Homero Pettinato. In Spain, the format has been broadcast since December 2022 on Telecinco, part of Mediaset España, with ratings success that has led the channel to renew it.

In Italy, where it is broadcast on Rai 1, the show has aired continuously since 2007.
