Aquarius Films’ Savage River makes waves with sales to Paramount+, TV4 and Nent

Savage River centres on an ex-con suspected of murder in rural Australia

Paramount+ in the UK and Germany, Swedish broadcaster TV4 and Nent in the Netherlands and Poland are among the latest platforms and networks to pick up Australian crime drama Savage River.

MTV3 in Finland, OTE in Greece, CBC Gem in Canada, Streamz in Belgium and Radio-Canada have also acquired the 6×60’ series.

Produced by Aquarius Films for the ABC in Australia, Savage River follows a young woman who returns to her hometown in rural Victoria after eight years in prison, determined to finally move on with her life. But the close-knit community is not about to let her forget her past that easily.

When a shocking murder rocks the town, she immediately becomes the focus of everyone’s suspicion. With the police closing in, she sets out to prove her innocence, uncovering long-buried secrets that will cast doubt on everything she thought she knew.

Savage River was created and written by Giula Sandler, Belinda Bradley and Franz Docherty, with additional writing credits for Angie Fielder and Polly Staniford. It is directed by Jocelyn Moorhouse and produced by Fielder and Staniford. Dynamic Television is the distributor.
