APTN explores aboriginal crime

Canada’s Aboriginal Peoples Television Network (APTN) is working with local prodco Rezolution Pictures on a crime drama written by Jeff Barnaby (Rhymes for Young Ghouls) and Emmy-nominated Sam Egan (Northern Exposure, Sanctuary).

APTN has ordered eight one-hour scripts of Dirty Red Boys, which explores smuggling and violence from native Canadians’ point of view. Barnaby will also direct while Egan takes on the producer role.

The show is based on an original concept by exec producer Catherine Bainbridge and joins APTN’s Mohawk Girls on Rezolution’s slate.

The series comes from the team behind feature film Reel Injun, with Rezolution Pictures’ Christina Fon, Linda Ludwick and Bainbridge developing and producing. Ernest Webb, Christina Fon, Linda Ludwick and Bainbridge are attached as exec producers.
