Applications open for BAFTA Albert impact producer programme

Ocean with David Attenborough influenced public opinion

Applications have opened for BAFTA Albert’s Impact Producer Accelerator programme, which aims to support producers who make screen content that can create social and environmental change.

The programme, which was first announced in November, is free and is aimed at existing and would-be impact producers, who have a background in campaigning, marketing, or other related roles, and have more than six years’ industry experience.

The launch follows recent big screen hits Adolescence, Mr Bates vs The Post Office and Ocean with David Attenborough, which have influenced public opinion, leading in some cases to political action and legislative change.

BAFTA Albert, the screen industry organisation for environmental sustainability, has teamed up with social impact agency Together Films, to deliver the programme, which it said aims to act as a “springboard for emerging talent ready to shape culture, shift conversations and drive real-world change.”

Successful applicants will receive a combination of social impact and climate content and sustainability training, as well as networking opportunities and practical tools.

The programme has the backing of celebrated TV writer and filmmaker Richard Curtis (Four Weddings & a Funeral, Love Actually), among others. Curtis recently called on the industry to support impact producers “to save and change lives.”

The deadline for applications is February 13. To find out more and to apply, click here.
