Apple TV+ orders Skydance comedy with Matthew McConaughey, Woody Harrelson

Apple TV+ has commissioned a half-hour comedy series produced by Skydance Television in which Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey will play fictionalised versions of themselves.

Created by David West Read (The Big Door Prize, Schitt’s Creek), the as-yet-untitled comedy is described as a “heartfelt odd couple love story revolving around the strange and beautiful bond between Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson.”

However, their friendship is tested when their combined families try to live together on McConaughey’s ranch.

The 10-episode project reunites the US actors, who starred in the first season of HBO detective drama True Detective just under a decade ago.

West Read, Harrelson and McConaughey are executive producers alongside David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Matt Thunell for Skydance Television, plus Bill Bost and Jeremy Plager.

Apple TV+ and Skydance Television have previously collaborated on the upcoming comedy series The Big Door Prize, also created by West Read, and drama series Foundation, which is set to return for its second season in the summer.
