Apple TV+ orders fully authorised Fleetwood Mac doc directed by Frank Marshall

Fleetwood Mac were formed in London in 1967

Apple TV+ has commissioned a documentary on the storied career of British-American band Fleetwood Mac, directed by acclaimed music-doc director Frank Marshall (The Bee Gees: How Can You Mend a Broken Heart, The Beach Boys).

The currently untitled project, which comes from Apple Original Films, is described as a “fully authorised” documentary that will see the band members share their story in their own words “for the first time.”

Marshall is producing through The Kennedy/Marshall Company with White Horse Pictures’ Nicholas Ferrall (The Beatles: Eight Days A Week, Stax: Soulsville, USA) and Jeanne Elfant Festa (The Apollo, Lucy and Desi), and Kennedy/Marshall’s Aly Parker.

Other exec producers include White Horse’s Cassidy Hartmann, Kennedy/Marshall’s Tony Rosenthal and Diamond Doc’s Mark Monroe, who also serves as writer.

The doc will include interviews with all five members, spanning the band’s formation in London in 1967 and the trials and tribulations that have brought them to today. Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Lindsey Buckingham, Stevie Nicks and Christine McVie, the latter of whom died in 2022, are all featured in the doc. Apple said the project will feature never-before-seen footage, exclusive new interviews, and archival interviews of Christine McVie.

The doc will join a slate of Apple documentaries that also includes Still: A Michael J. Fox Movie, Selena Gomez: My Mind & Me, Steve! (Martin) A Documentary in 2 Pieces and an upcoming doc about British racing driver Lewis Hamilton.
