Apple TV+ greenlights Boat Rocker’s Amber Brown book adaptation

Amber Brown, a kids and family series from Canada-based content studio Boat Rocker, has been given the green light by Apple TV+.

Based on Paula Danziger’s bestselling book series, which has been published in 53 countries and sold over 10 million copies worldwide, the project will be directed and written by Bonnie Hunt (Life with Bonnie, The Bonnie Hunt Show), who also serves as showrunner and executive producer.

Starring Carsyn Rose (The Rookie) in the lead role, the series follows a girl trying to find her own voice through art, music and creativity in the wake of her parents’ divorce. Also in the show are Sarah Drew (Grey’s Anatomy), Darin Brooks (Blue Mountain State) and newcomer Liliana Inouye (The Slows).

Amber Brown is being produced by Boat Rocker for Apple, with Bob Higgins and Jon Rutherford executive producing for Boat Rocker. A release date has not yet been announced.

Apple TV+’s kids and family slate also includes Ghostwriter and Helpsters from Sesame Workshop, the animated film Wolfwalkers and The Snoopy Show, produced by Peanuts and WildBrain. Upcoming shows for the streamer include Wolfboy and the Everything Factory, as well as a pair of shows from The Jim Henson Company, Fraggle Rock and Harriet the Spy.
