Apple TV+ gives two-season order to untitled project from Vince Gilligan

Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul creator Vince Gilligan has received a two-season order from Apple TV+ for his latest TV project.

Rhea Seehorn

The untitled series, produced under Gilligan’s overall deal with Sony Pictures Television, will star US actress Rhea Seehorn in the lead role.

Seehorn starred alongside Bob Odenkirk in Breaking Bad spin-off series Better Call Saul, which concluded with its sixth and final season last month.

Gilligan will serve as showrunner and executive producer. Jeff Frost and Diane Mercer will also executive produce, with Jenn Carroll producing for High Bridge Productions.

Aside from Seehorn’s involvement, details about the project remain under wraps at this stage. It marks the latest collaboration between Sony Pictures Television and Apple TV+, following the space drama For All Mankind, TV adaptation of sci-fi novel Dark Matter, comedy series The Afterparty and upcoming comedy Platonic.

“After 15 years, I figured it was time to take a break from writing antiheroes… and who’s more heroic than the brilliant Rhea Seehorn? It’s long past time she had her own show, and I feel lucky to get to work on it with her,” said Gilligan.

“And what nice symmetry to be reunited with Zack Van Amburg, Jamie Erlicht and Chris Parnell. Jamie and Zack were the first two people to say yes to Breaking Bad all those years ago. They’ve built a great team at Apple, and my wonderful, long-time partners at Sony Pictures Television and I are excited to be in business with them.”
