Apple TV+ adds sports comedy starring Owen Wilson to originals slate

Owen Wilson recently appeared in the second season of Loki for Disney+

US-based streamer Apple TV+ has added a comedy starring Owen Wilson to its slate of originals.

Created, written by and executive produced by Jason Keller (Ford v Ferrari) and developed and produced by Apple Studios, the as-yet-untitled 10-episode series will be directed by Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris (Fleishman is in Trouble).

Wilson stars as Pryce Cahill, an over-the-hill, ex-pro golfer whose career was derailed prematurely 20 years before.

After he gets fired from his job at an Indiana sporting goods store and his wife walks out on him, Cahill hedges his bets entirely on a troubled 17-year-old golf phenom.

Wilson will next star opposite Woody Harrelson in crime thriller Lips Like Sugar, set during the 1984 Olympics in LA, having recently appeared in the second season of Loki for Disney+.

The Apple TV+ series will be executive produced by Propagate Content’s Ben Silverman (The Office), Howard T. Owens and Rodney Ferrell, Entertainment 360’s Guymon Casady (Ripley), Piece of Work’s Lee Eisenberg and Natalie Sandy, Chris Moynihan, Keller and Wilson.

It joins other Apple original comedies such as Ted Lasso, Shrinking, Platonic, Loot and the forthcoming Palm Royale.
