Apple TV+ adds Gibney war crime case doc

US streamer Apple TV+ has ordered a limited documentary series following the story of a US Navy SEAL who was charged with committing war crimes.

Produced by Alex Gibney’s Jigsaw Productions, The Line will offer a different perspective on previously untold aspects of the tale of Eddie Gallagher, who was ultimately acquitted of committing war crimes except on one account: posing in a photo with a corpse.

The four-parter is directed by Jeffrey Zimbalist (Momentum Generation) and executive produced by Gibney, Brad Hebert, Richard Perello, and Stacey Offman, alongside Michael Zimbalist and Jeffrey Zimbalist from All Rise Films, with Doug Shultz as producer and Whitney Johnson.

A podcast about Gallagher, hosted and executive produced by Dan Taberski (Running from COPS, Missing Richard Simmons, Surviving Y2K) and also titled The Line, has debuted on Apple Podcasts.
