Apple asks Who Are You Charlie Brown?

Apple agreed a deal to become the home of Peanuts last year

US streamer Apple TV+ is launching a documentary special that looks into the origins of American comic strip Peanuts and its creator Charles M Schulz.

Produced by Imagine Documentaries and WildBrain, and narrated by actor Lupita Nyong’o (Black Panther, Us), Who Are You, Charlie Brown? features interviews with the late Schulz’s friends and family, as well as cartoonists and famous fans of Peanuts.

The comic strip, which first ran in 1950, is famous for characters including Charlie Brown and his anthropomorphic dog Snoopy.

Who Are You, Charlie Brown? launches on Apple TV+ later this month. Exec producing for Imagine Documentaries are founders Brian Grazer and Ron Howard, president Justin Wilkes and exec VP Sara Bernstein.

Exec producing for WildBrain are president Josh Scherba, exec VP of content and current sales Stephanie Betts and exec VP of M&A and chief commercial officer Anne Loi.

Schulz’s son Craig Schulz and chief creative officer Paige Braddock exec produce for Peanuts. Michael Bonfiglio also exec produces, in addition to writing and directing, while Marcella Steingart serves as producer and writer.
