APC joins ABC’s Fallout

French distributor and prodco APC Studios has helped fund and picked up worldwide rights to a new drama series for Australia’s ABC about British nuclear tests in the 1950s.

Prodco Porchlight Films is producing the six-parter which centres around atomic bomb tests in the Australian outback and stars James Cromwell (LA Confidential).

Fallout is APC Studios’ first investment in an Aussie series, which it said reinforces its strategy of broadening its slate of English-language dramas.

“Fallout is a perfect example of the kind of drama we are committed to supporting – a locally grounded story which tackles universal themes and complex characters we know will resonate globally,” said Emmanuelle Guilbart and Laurent Boissel, joint-CEOs and co-founders of APC Studios.

Vincent Sheehan and Tanya Phegan are producing the series for Porchlight Films alongside co-creator Peter Duncan. The series is set to air on ABC in 2020.

“It was clear from my first conversation with Emmanuelle and Laurent that they appreciated the many layers and bold ambition and were set to embark on a journey with us to share this little-known story worldwide,” said Sheehan.
