Anything Goes for Fox

MIPCOM: US network Fox has become the latest broadcaster to pick up French entertainment format Anything Goes from Shine International.

The network has ordered eight episodes of the programme, renamed Slide Show, although an airdate has yet to be announced.

It will be produced by Shine America together with Steve Carell’s Carousel Television, and exec produced by Carell, Thom Hinkle, Eden Gaha and Paul Franklin.

Anything Goes was created by Arthur Essebag of French prodco Satisfaction – The Television Agency, and first launched on commercial net TF1 in France in 2012 as Vendredi Tout est Permis Avec Arthur, pulling in 40% audience shares.

The series has since launched on Australia’s Seven Network, becoming the channel’s top-rated show in its timeslot from this August.

The show then launched at the end of August on TV2 in Denmark as Rundt pa Gulver, pulling in a 34.7% share on Saturdays. It has also been launched in Portugal on SIC.

Deals have also been signed with Spain (Antena 3), China (Hunan TV), Brazil (Globo), Ukraine (1+1), Lebanon (MTV), V (French Canada) and Romania (Antena 1).

Anything Goes sees two teams of celebrities and comedians compete in a series of challenges involving unpredictable song, dance and sketch challenges, while at the same time coping with show’s trademark tilted set.

“Unscripted television should be outrageous and audacious by definition. Unfortunately, not much is, as of late,” said Kevin Reilly, chairman of entertainment at Fox. “Slide Show is the most ridiculously fun and out-there thing I’ve seen in quite a while.”
