Anti-vax doc set for Channel 4

Piers Corbyn, brother of former Labour leader Jeremy, speaks at an anti-vaccination protest

UK broadcaster Channel 4 has ordered a feature documentary exploring the origins and growth of the anti-vaccination movement and its impact on global efforts to defeat the coronavirus pandemic.

Produced by Caravan and Quicksilver Media, The Rise of the Anti-Vaxx Movement (1×90’, working title) will include interviews with top experts on the movement, some of its leading proponents and parents on both sides of the battle.

It is directed by Colette Camden (Married to a Paedophile) and produced by Flora Bagenal, with Dinah Lord and Eamonn Matthews exec producing. The doc is being distributed worldwide by All3Media International.

Steve Boulton, commissioning editor for Channel 4 news and current affairs, said: “This is a time of powerful antisocial conspiracy theories, and we felt we needed to take a deep dive into one of the most troubling – a movement that threatens to damage public health just as science starts to deliver us all from a killer pandemic.”
