Antena 3 sets sail with Globomedia

Spanish prodco Globomedia has completed production on 16th Century-set ocean voyage drama due to air on Antena 3 later this year.

El Corazón del Océano (aka In the Heart of the Ocean) is a 6×70’ or 10×50’ series based on the real story of an expedition made by 80 young women sent to repopulate America with Spanish noble blood.

Imagina International Sales, the distribution arm of Globomedia parent Imagina Group, will handle worldwide sales of the drama, with interest already shown from broadcasters in Latin America.

Globomedia is also producing the fifth season of The Red Eagle (Águila Roja) for Spanish pubcaster TVE.

The series tells the story of Gonzalo, a school teacher in 17th Century Spain, who begins a double life as a masked hero after his wife dies in mysterious circumstances.

The Red Eagle has been sold into more than 20 territories by Imagina, including US Hispanic channel Vme.

Also on Globomedia’s slate is Moon, The Mystery of Calenda (13×70’), a series about a werewolf that was greenlit last November by Antena 3 for a 2012 release.
