Another C4 exec leaves, joins ITV

The UK’s Channel 4 has lost another senior executive as its head of scheduling for diginets E4 and More4 stepped down to join ITV.

Paul Mortimer will become controller of digital channels at ITV, taking up the role vacated by Emma Tennant, who was named controller of UKTV in August.

Mortimer will be responsible across ITV’s digital channels, which comprise ITV2, ITV3, ITV4 and kidsnet CITV. He will report to Angela Jain, director of digital channels and acquisitions, and is due to begin work early next year.

Mortimer’s role will be taken on by George Dixon, head of channel management, until a replacement is found.

Jain said Mortimer “has a terrific track record managing a diverse range of digital channels at Channel 4 and brings a great range of experience to ITV.”

Mortimer becomes the latest executive to leave Channel 4 in recent weeks. Last week, Sue Murphy, C4’s head of features and factual entertainment, stepped down to join All3Media-owned indies Optomen TV and One Potato Two Potato as creative director.

Camilla Campbell and Robert Wulff-Cochrane, who had run C4’s drama department for the last two years, announced last week they were launching Noho Film and TV, a joint venture prodco with ITV Studios.

Other executives to have left the broadcaster recently include head of daytime Helen Warner, documentaries chief Hamish Mykura and Darren Smith, commissioning editor for entertainment.
