Animation outfit Nexus Studios hires Kim Adams as director of real-time production

London-, LA- and Sydney-based animation company Nexus Studios has hired former Oculus Story Studio exec Kim Adams as director of real-time production.

Nexus said the addition of Adams is “one of a number of strategic appointments” that will support ongoing real-time projects across entertainment and immersive storytelling, including the recently announced time travel-themed TV miniseries led by director Patrick Osborne.

Adams will head the company’s real-time animation production across original TV and film, branded content and immersive storytelling.

Prior to joining Nexus, Adams held leadership posts at Facebook’s Oculus Story Studio where she worked on Emmy-winning narrative virtual reality (VR) project Wolves in the Walls. She was also a producer at Google’s Spotlight Stories, where she produced the pioneering VR projects Rain or Shine with Nexus Studios and Special Delivery with Aardman Animations.

With more than 25 years’ experience producing animated content across traditional and emerging platforms, Adams was also previously a film producer at Pixar where she produced a multitude of short films including content for the Toy Story and Cars franchises. More recently, she co-founded social VR start-up Adventure Lab.

Nexus is currently producing animated projects such as anthology series The House for Netflix and singer Billie Eilish’s film Happier Than Ever for Disney+.
