Amplify Pictures names Impact alum Lauren Haber as head of documentary

LA-based production company Amplify Pictures (HBO’s 100 Foot Wave) has appointed veteran producer Lauren Haber as its head of documentary.

In the newly created position, Haber, formerly VP of production at Impact Partners, where she worked on doc projects such as 32 Sounds, Another Body and Aftershock, will oversee Amplify’s slate of documentary projects and expand its portfolio with a focus on ongoing series and IP creation.

Based in New York, she will report to chief content officer Rachel Eggebeen, who oversees Amplify’s scripted and unscripted slate from Amsterdam.

The hire comes after Amplify secured minority investment from Connecticut-based investment firm Great Mountain Partners earlier this year.

At the time, the company also confirmed Eggebeen’s appointment, in addition to naming Colin King Miller as chief operating officer, with responsibility for overseeing day-to-day operations including production, finance and legal.

Amplify, founded in 2018 by Amazon Studios co-founder Joe Lewis (Fleabag, Transparent), says it wants to revolutionise the traditional TV model by sharing in a project’s success with the creators and being able to greenlight shows without a broadcaster or distributor attached.

“I’m honoured and excited to build Amplify Pictures’ global documentary slate, working with visionary filmmakers to tell stories that surprise and entertain, under a supportive, creator-driven business model,” said Haber.

“Lauren is a one-of-a-kind producer and executive who thinks big and exemplifies the qualities – smart, funny, innovative – that make Amplify Pictures the home for top filmmakers and creators,” added Eggebeen.
