AMC+ to visit Odeon, Miramax’s Spy City

Dominic Cooper in Cold War drama Spy City

US channels operator AMC Networks has acquired the rights to six-part drama Spy City from Germany’s Odeon Fiction and US prodco Miramax TV.

The drama stars Dominic Cooper as a British spy in 1961 Berlin tasked with finding a mole working for the Soviets. It will premiere in the US on AMC’s streaming platform AMC+ on April 15.

Odeon is the production arm of German media company Leonine Studios. ViacomCBS Global Distribution, whose parent company part-owns Miramax TV, is handling global sales.

As well as Odeon and Miramax, the series is a coproduction with German pubcaster ZDF, UK prodco Seven Stories and Germany’s Wilma Film, in association with Magenta TV, the OTT service run by Deutsche Telekom. Magenta TV debuted the series last year.

Odeon’s Britta Meyermann, Mischa Hoffmann and Ann-Kathrin Eicher produce the series. Cooper, William Boyd, Thomas Augsberger and Bill Block are executive producers, along with Magenta TV’s Michael Schuld, Sven Philipp and ZDF’s Wolfgang Feindt and Annika Schmidt.
