AMC builds unscripted block

US cablenet AMC is adding an unscripted programming block to its schedule and has commissioned a new reality series from the producers of The Kennedys.

The network, which is home to scripted series such as Breaking Bad and Mad Men, is pooling the final episodes of Comic Book Men season two with new seasons of Freakshow and Immortalized to build the dedicated block, which will air on Thursdays from February 14.

Other shows to feature will include the second seasons of The Pitch and Small Town Security, plus recently commissioned Road Show later next year.

Meanwhile, AMC has commissioned Asylum Entertainment (The Kennedys) to produce eight-part series Owner’s Manual.

The 30-minute show, due to launch in the third quarter of 2013, will see the two presenters try to operate different machinery and technology, such as a fighter jet and submarine, although only one of them will read the manual.

Owner’s Manual is exec produced by Steve Michaels, Jonathan Koch, Alex Piper and Jerry McNutt.
