Amazon to stream ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup live and free in an Aussie first

Prime secured rights to the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup last year

Amazon’s Prime Video has expanded its cricket offering by streaming the entire International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 live and free in Australia.

The securing of the multi-million-dollar rights deal late last year was a coup for the streamer, which acquired all local broadcast rights to the ICC men’s and women’s matches for the next four years.

The new online deal ended a 15-year joint-venture rights arrangement between the ICC, pay TV operator Foxtel and terrestrial Nine Network.

With free-to-air networks lobbying the government to tighten the media rules for streamers, Prime has sweetened its broadcast deal in an Australian first by offering free access to the Women’s Cricket World Cup.

From September 30 to November 2, viewers nationwide will be able to access matches for free on any device via the Prime Video app or website. Users can log in with a free Amazon account or sign up for one at no cost.

“This championship will be a defining moment for the Australian team like never before. By broadcasting the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 free for all Australians, in primetime evening slots, we’re not only delighting our customers and maximising the visibility for these outstanding athletes but also inspiring the next generation of female cricketers,” said Alexandra Gilbert, head of content at Prime Video Australia and New Zealand.
