Amazon renews Bosch for final season

Bosch was Amazon’s first original drama

Amazon has renewed its original drama series Bosch for a seventh and final season.

The Emmy-nominated show is based on Michael Connelly’s best-selling novels about a homicide detective and is the streamer’s longest-running original series.

The renewal comes ahead of the launch of the sixth season of the show, which was Amazon’s first original drama, later this year.

Inspired by the novels The Concrete Blonde and The Burning Room, the show’s seventh run will see detectives Harry Bosch and and Jerry Edgar pursue two separate but dangerous murder investigations that involve both white-collar crime and the street-level drug trade.

Produced by Red Arrow Studios-owned Fabrik Entertainment for Amazon Studios, Bosch was created by Eric Overmeyer, who executive produced alongside lead actor Titus Welliver, Pieter Jan Brugge, Henrik Bastin, Daniel Pyne, James Baker, Bo Stehmeier and Connelly.

Connolly said: “This started seven years ago with showrunner Eric Overmyer and me writing the pilot. We plan to write the last episode together as well. We’ll leave behind the longest-running show so far on Amazon and it will be there to be discovered by new viewers for as long as people are streaming. That is amazing to me.

“The other thing is that we would not have come all this way without Titus Welliver. There could not have been a better actor to play this role or a better team player to build this show around. He’ll be Harry Bosch for the ages.”
