Amazon Prime Video launches BBC Player and BBC Kids channels in India

Gritty BBC crime drama Happy Valley

Amazon’s Prime Video streamer in India has launched BBC Player and BBC Kids channels in collaboration with the UK’s BBC Studios.

Available as add-on subscriptions, the channels provide Indian viewers with a curated line-up of British content.

BBC Player costs INR599 (US$7.30) annually and includes drama, comedy, documentary, factual, entertainment and lifestyle content, such as crime thriller Six Four, sitcom Citizen Khan, comedy-drama Chivalry, motoring show Top Gear and political thriller The Diplomat.

Other shows include crime dramas Sherlock, Unforgotten and Happy Valley, comedy This is Going to Hurt, baking format The Great British Bake Off, dramas The North Water, The Pursuit of Love and Small Axe, docuseries Greta Thunberg: A Year to Change the World and entertainment format Strictly Come Dancing.

The BBC Player add-on includes BBC Kids. As a standalone offering, BBC Kids is priced at INR199 annually and houses children’s shows such as Hey Duggee, Go Jetters, JoJo & Gran Gran, Sarah & Duck and Junior Bake Off, among others.
