Amazon elevates Albert Cheng to VP of Prime Video in the US

Albert Cheng, chief operating officer at Amazon Studios, has been promoted to VP of Prime Video in the US.

In the newly created role, Cheng will oversee the Prime Video business in the US, responsible for revenue growth, profit and loss, and improving the performance of the streaming service.

The promotion was announced Wednesday by Mike Hopkins, senior VP of Prime Video and Amazon Studios, to whom Cheng will now report. He previously reported to Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon Studios.

As part of his new role, Cheng will also oversee brand strategy, marketing and audience insights for Prime Video in the US, as well as being responsible for customer acquisition, retention and engagement across SVoD and AVoD.

In a memo to staff, Hopkins said he would soon have an update on the chief operating officer role previously held by Cheng.
