Alpha TV takes in Colombian Mother In Law

The Mother In Law originally aired on Colombia’s Caracol Television

Greek broadcaster Alpha TV has commissioned a local adaptation of Colombian comedy soap opera The Mother In Law (La Suegra).

The original aired for 120 hour-long episodes over three months in 2014 on Colombia’s Caracol Television.

The adaptation will follow Roxani Tavoulareas, a Greek woman who moves back home from the US to find her family has run her business into the ground and sets off a power struggle when she makes them all live under the same roof.

Greece’s Tanweer Productions, set up at the beginning of the year by distributor Tanweer Alliances, is behind the adaptation.

Paloma Garcia, Caracol Television’s sales director for Europe and Africa, said: “This production reinforces our presence in Greece in the fiction genres and is proof that our titles are universal and can work in European territories.

“It is a real challenge for our creative teams to continue developing stories that attract audiences from all over the world, especially in a highly competitive environment when it comes to fiction stories.”
