All Creatures Great & Small gets two-season renewal on Channel 5

The All Creatures Great & Small reboot debuted in 2020

ViacomCBS-owned UK terrestrial network Channel 5 has renewed its reboot of classic BBC drama All Creatures Great & Small for third and fourth seasons.

The series, based on James Herriot’s collection of stories about life as a rural vet, is produced for C5 by Howard’s End and Wolf Hall producer Playground.

Two more 6×60’ seasons, plus Christmas specials, have been greenlit, with US pubcaster PBS on board as a coproducer. The second season began airing as part of PBS’s Masterpiece slot over the weekend.

All3Media International holds the global rights to the series. Seasons three and four were again commissioned by ViacomCBS Networks UK deputy director of programmes Seb Cardwell. Returning exec producers are Colin Callender and Melissa Gallant for Playground, Louise Pedersen and David Swetman for All3Media International and Rebecca Eaton and Susanne Simpson for Masterpiece.

In related news, C5 has commissioned Women’s Health Uncovered from UK indie Lambent Productions.

In the 4×60’ series, presenter Cherry Healey uncovers the secrets and taboos surrounding women’s health. The exec producers for Lambent Productions are Ollie Tait and Emma Wakefield.
