All change at The CW

UPFRONTS: US network The CW will debut two of its new dramas on Wednesdays and Thursdays this fall and make changes to all five nights of its schedule.

Reign, about a young Mary Queen of Scots, and The Tomorrow People, a remake of a 1970s UK about a group of young people who have evolved to possess special powers, both have strong launch slots. The Tomorrow People airs on Wednesdays at 21.00 with Reign starting on Thursdays in the same slot.

Another newbie, The Originals, is slated for its maiden season on Tuesday at 20.00. The series is a spin-off from previous CW hit The Vampire Diaries, which focuses on a teenage girl who falls in love with a vampire. The latter is sticking at 20.00 on Thursdays, prior to Reign.

Hart of Dixie is being moved to Monday at 20.00 for its third season, followed by a second run for Beauty & the Beast. Arrow keeps its Wednesday 20.00 slot prior to The Tomorrow People but Supernatural has been moved to Tuesday at 21.00 for its ninth season. The Carrie Diaries has been moved to Friday at 20.00 for its second season, leading into the latest instalment of America’s Next Top Model.

Two other new drama commissions – The Hundred and Star Crossed – will premiere in midseason along with the fourth return of Nikita. The Hundred is a post-apocalyptic sci-fi drama from Warner Bros, Alloy Entertainment and Jason Rothenberg, while Star Crossed (the pilot of which was called Oxygen) centres on humans and aliens who mix in a desegregated school. Reality series Famous in 12 will also get a midseason debut.

The CW’s fall season will start in October with exact premiere dates yet to be confirmed.
