Alibi Entertainment strikes content pact with Canadian property TV mainstay Mike Holmes

Mike Holmes is an iconic figure in Canadian property-related programming

Toronto-based production company Alibi Entertainment has struck a content pact with Canadian TV personality Mike Holmes and his production and real-estate business The Holmes Group.

Under the joint venture, the companies will develop and produce unscripted content featuring the Holmes family.

Alibi and The Holmes Group said the partnership will focus on a range of projects that “showcase the Holmes family’s values, craftsmanship and commitment to helping others – from home renovations and family-focused storytelling to purpose-driven narratives that reflect the family’s deep community ties.” Details about upcoming projects and distribution partners will be revealed in the coming months.

For the past two decades, Holmes has been one of the most recognisable faces in home-related programming in Canada. His production banner, Make It Right Television, has produced a raft of shows including Holmes & Homes, Holmes in New Orleans, Holmes Inspections, Holmes Makes it Right, Holmes: The Next Generation, Holmes Family Effect and Holmes Family Rescue.

He spent many years making and starring in shows for Corus Entertainment, before moving to Bell Media in 2019 and then striking a wide-ranging deal with Blue Ant Media in 2022.

In addition to content production and distribution, The Holmes Group’s operations span home building and inspection, residential construction and renovations.

Alibi Entertainment is focused on documentaries, factual, comedy, digital and lifestyle and has produced more than 500 hours of content since it was founded in 2012. It is behind lifestyle series including Carnival Eats, Sarah Off the Grid, Staying Inn: Hotel Julie and The Baker Sisters.

“This partnership marks a new chapter for the Holmes brand,” said The Holmes Group’s senior VP Seth Atkins. “We’re excited to collaborate with Alibi to expand our reach and bring viewers even more inspiring, entertaining, and meaningful content we call edutainment.”

Joanne Virgo, Alibi’s VP and executive producer, added: “The Holmes family has built an incredible legacy of trust, expertise and heart. We are excited to work together to create original programming that not only entertains but resonates with audiences around the world.”
