NEWS BRIEF: Italian kids’ cartoon Leo da Vinci has been given a second season to be coproduced by local pubcaster Rai Ragazzi, Germany’s Hessischer Rundfunk and ARD, and Indian animator Cosmos Maya.

Made by Italy’s Alcuni Group, the new 52×13’ season is set in the summer of 1468 during the Renaissance, when the protagonists have turned 16. Leo and his friends Lisa, Lollo and Bianca de Medici set off on an adventure guided by a manuscript from legendary explorer Marco Polo. Rai Ragazzi chief Luca Milano said the show had particular appeal for public broadcasters.
