Albrecht stays as Starz CEO

Chris Albrecht will continue as CEO of Starz until at least 2020 and has added the role of president to his title and responsibilities.

Albrecht’s extended deal and new title at the US premium cable network will come into effect on July 1.

Since joining Starz in 2010, the former HBO chairman and CEO has helped put Starz on the map with a string of original dramas including Outlander, Black Sails, The Missing and Spartacus.

The cablenet’s drama The Girlfriend Experience was this week picked up by Amazon Prime Video in the UK, Germany, Austria and Japan.

“Chris has developed Starz into a leading, innovative entertainment brand with award-winning original programing that resonates with US and international audiences,” said Greg Maffei, chairman of Starz.
