AGC Television adapts YA fantasy book series Hook’s Daughter as live-action TV show

AGC Television, the series arm of Stuart Ford-led content outfit AGC Studios, is adapting RV Bowman’s book series Hook’s Daughter: The Pirate Princess Chronicles as a live-action series.

The LA-based company optioned the rights to the young-adult fantasy trilogy, which was debuted in 2018 with Hook’s Daughter, followed by Pan’s Secret and Neverland’s Key.

Lucy Brown (Bride or Groom) is penning the TV adaptation while Thor Freudenthal (Words on A Bathroom Wall, Carnival Row) is attached to direct.

The story follows a 16-year-old girl who goes in search of her sea captain father when he fails to show up for his annual visit to her boarding school. She is shocked to find he is on a magical island called Neverland, where he is known as the villainous Captain Hook, but she soon discovers the real villain may be Peter Pan.

AGC Television, which is spearheaded creatively by chief creative officer Lourdes Diaz, is a producer on series including The Tinder Swindler (Netflix), upcoming gladiator series Those About to Die (Peacock) and Australian drama Troppo (ABC/Freevee).
