US prodco AGC Television has acquired the rights to adapt Christopher Golden’s Ben Walker supernatural thriller novels for television.

AGC will develop the series beginning with Golden’s 2017 debut Ararat and forthcoming title The Pandora Room.

The novels follow the story of Walker, an operative in a secret unit of the US Department of Defence who investigates newly discovered natural and supernatural phenomena to ensure they cannot be used as weapons against the US.

Golden, who recently worked on the script for the forthcoming film reboot of Dark Horse Comics character Hellboy, is attached to write the pilot. AGC is aiming to take season one into production later this year, focusing on Ararat.

AGC Television president Lourdes Diaz will exec produce alongside Stuart Ford, founder of parent company AGC Studios, as well as Golden and Pete Donaldson for Donaldson Media & Consulting. Diaz, AGC VP of legal and business affairs Anant Tamirisa and VP of scripted television Matt Bankston brokered the deal with Adam Rosen on behalf of Golden.

The US and UK prodco recently boarded Canal+, Fox Networks Group Europe and Africa and Urban Myth Films’ reimagining of The War of the Worlds as a coproduction and co-financing partner.
