African streamer Showmax takes Real Housewives format to Nigerian city of Abuja

NBCUniversal Formats handles The Real Housewives of Abuja

The Real Housewives franchise is getting a new version in the Nigerian city of Abuja, which will air on MultiChoice-backed African streamer Showmax.

The Real Housewives of Abuja will be available to watch in more than 40 African countries from February 17, with new episodes dropping every Friday.

The deal was announced by NBCUniversal Formats, which distributes the Real Housewives brand. There are now 21 international versions of the show, with the Abuja series the second adaptation in Nigeria after The Real Housewives of Lagos.

The series, made by Lagos-based Delmedia Productions, will follow the luxurious lives of six successful women: Arafa, Comfort Booth, OJ Posharella, Princess Jecoco, Samantha Homosanny and Tutupie.
