AETN hires former Target MD

Ian Jones, the former MD of UK-based distributor Target Entertainment, has joined A&E Television Networks as MD of international content distribution and commercial development.

Jones, who left Target last year amid a restructuring of the company, was also once president of National Geographic Television International.

He takes up the newly created post at AETN International in December, based in New York, with responsibility for overseeing the company’s content and digital distribution activities outside the US.

He will work together with AETN International MDs in London and Singapore, and will oversee sales staff based in the UK, Singapore, and New York, plus reps in Sydney, Montreal, and Tokyo. Jones will report to AETN senior VP for international Sean Cohan.

“Over the past three years, AETN International has significantly grown its content distribution activities across all platforms. We recognized the need to add a senior global sales executive to our team and with his extensive sales and leadership background, Ian fits the bill perfectly,” said Cohan.

Prior to Nat Geo, Jones was deputy MD and general manager at Granada International.
