A+E’s Tulk-Hart makes Buccaneer move

Richard Tulk-Hart, MD of international distribution at A+E Networks, is joining Marcella producer Buccaneer Media as joint CEO.

Tulk-Hart will share the top job with Tony Wood, who founded Buccaneer Media as a joint venture with Cineflix Media in 2013.

Buccaneer said Tulk-Hart would use his experience in international distribution, formats and coproductions at US broadcaster, producer and distributor A+E to spearhead the commercialisation of its projects and drive business growth, allowing Wood to focus on creative development and production.

Prior to joining A+E, Tulk-Hart held senior industry leadership roles with Miramax, where he was senior VP and head of international, and FremantleMedia, where he was VP of sales for EMEA. He was also previously VP of sales and distribution at IMG Media.

Buccaneer is currently in the advanced stages of development on new film and TV projects with UK, US and European networks, including Crime, penned by Trainspotting author Irvine Welsh, and The Reykjavik Confessions, from director Baltasar Kormakur.

The company is also in post-production on the third season of Marcella, the ITV and Netflix drama written by Hans Rosenfeldt (The Bridge) and starring Anna Friel.

“I am so excited to join Tony at Buccaneer,” Tulk-Hart said. “The slate is broad and brought together by incredible talent. In such a competitive environment, Tony’s creative talent gives us the edge from which I can launch the business. I wish my incredible A+E colleagues every success and look forward to working with them in the future.”

Wood added: “Richard joining Buccaneer is a game changer for us – his record speaks for itself. Our development slate together with Richard’s heavyweight commercial expertise feels like the final piece of the puzzle for our business and I’m thrilled to be working alongside him.”
