A+E takes Married at First Sight Oz for Asia

Married At First Sight Australia airs on Nine Network

A+E Networks Asia has picked up season six of the Australia version of dating format Married at First Sight and will make the show available in Japan and Korea.

The Aussie show airs on Nine Network and was produced by Endemol Shine Australia. A+E has also acquired S6 of the US version of the format.

Finished local adaptations of the format have also been picked up in Europe. Sky Italy has bought S3-4 of the New Zealand version, made by Kiwi prodco MediaWorks, and S7 of the Australian show, while the Discovery channel in Italy has taken S8-10 of the US show.

In addition, Discovery Italy has commissioned four seasons of a local adaptation from Banijay-owned Italian prodco NonPanic.

German free-to-air channel Sat.1 has ordered S8 of Married at First Sight from Munich prodco Redseven Entertainment. In Belgium, prodco PIT is producing a sixth season of the local version for Flemish channel VTM, owned by DPG Media. In addition, the format has been optioned by Spanish reality producer Bulldog TV.

Married at First Sight was created by Denmark’s Snowman Productions, part of Red Arrow, for local public broadcaster DR and is now produced in 30 countries. Distributor Red Arrow Studios International handles the format globally.

In the show, people put their love lives in the hands of relationship experts who attempt to find their perfect match. The catch is they have to marry them as soon as they meet. The rest of the show explores whether their marriage can last the six-week trial period.
